Guest editor: Lord Robbie Douglas-Miller OBE
To mark the start of the 2025 game season, Fieldsports Journal comes to you straight from the grouse moors of the Hopes estate - home to coveys of red grouse, countless moorland birds and this issue's guest editor, Lord Douglas-Miller. Appointed as a Defra minister under Sunak, and now sitting in the House of Lords, he is a life-long supporter of science-based conservation.
For this issue, we draw on the expertise and experience of a number of leading conservationists, such as Ian Coghill and Lord James Percy. We also celebrate the season with shoot reports from the Lammermuir Hills and enjoy a variety of delicious game recipes.
From Scotland, we travel to Gabon in pursuit of tarpon and jacks on the fly, and follow a stag hunt in Patagonia. Closer to home, we take a visit to the West Wycombe estate to sample their sim game offering and speak to a London-based artist using street art techniques to create fine wildlife art.
With this and much more, we hope you enjoy the issue.
